Tabitha Catarina is staying at her grandparents' farm/cat hotel for the summer, and she is thrilled when the owner of Queen Lizzie's Pizza Palace brings Queen Lizzie, a Sphynx cat, to Tabby Towers to stay because Lizzie keeps jumping up on the counter too close to the food--but her owner is sad, so Tabitha sets out to research this bad behavior and come up with a solution that will allow Lizzie to remain in the store that is named after her.

Tabitha Catarina's world revolves around cats, and there are certainly plenty of them at Tabby Towers, her grandparents' cat hotel, but she would really like to have her Himalayan cat, Bootsie, with her too--trouble is that Bootsie proves to be unexpectedly and implacably hostile to the other cats.

Twins Alfie and Alfreeda are charged with getting Molly the West Highland white terrier fully groomed in time for her owner's wedding, where she will wear a collar bearing the wedding rings--the trouble is that Molly hates being groomed and has apparently buried the collar somewhere at the Hound Hotel.

When they are not fighting with each other Alfie Wolfe and his twin sister Alfreeda help out with their mother's dog hotel business--but just now he is faced with a friendly pug called Twinkles, and an aggressive Golden Retriever, named Gracie, who seems to regard him as a threat.

Max has a hard time remembering to bring things to school. First he forgets his boots, so he can't play in the snow. When he remembers his boots, he forgets his shoes so he can't play in the gym. Max must learn to be responsible or he will continue to miss the fun at recess.

Max likes soccer, but he's not very good. He starts to feel jealous of Zoe and her skills and tries to cheat to win. He soon learns that practice is the only way to get better.

Zoe helps Max feel brave when he has to go to the dentist to have two teeth pulled.
